DID YOU KNOW?
With the World Series upon us, we thought we would share a little baseball history. According to South Carolina lore, a U.S. Army Captain named Abner Doubleday, who was stationed at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, was the inventor of the American game of baseball. It is said that Doubleday invented the game in Elihu Phinney's cow pasture in Cooperstown, New York in 1839 and brought the game with him to Fort Sumter. Have you heard of a different story? Let us know!
